It’s Black History Month — a time for me to reflect on my history and to reimagine a better future.
My quilt Hallelujah! Finally Free as a Bird! made her public debut at the City of South Fulton, GA’s Freedom Quilts exhibit in June, 2021. The exhibit was part of the City’s week long Juneteenth celebration.
Hallelujah! Finally Free as a Bird! was created for that purpose, and it is a quilt with a message. The words in the quilt encourage escaping slaves to follow Harriet Tubman to freedom.
