It is not unusual for me to get an alert from ETSY that someone has purchased a quilt from my studio store. So a year ago I was delighted when I got the alert that someone purchased Flight Toward Freedom. However, an ordinary purchase turned into something amazing when I learned the quilt was purchased for the new Netflix series Raising Dion. The series is about an African American boy who has super powers, and his mother's efforts to protect him.
But learning who had purchased the quilt did not guarantee that it would make it into the movie. Well the wait is finally over, and I am thrilled that Flight Toward Freedom did not land on the cutting room floor. Although it is hard to see her, and her time on camera is fleeting, Flight Toward Freedom is the quilt covering Dion's bed in their cabin on the lake. Probably only I can recognize her, but I know it is her and I am thrilled!
Now that I have binge watched the series, I can truthfully say it is really good. I can't wait for Season 2. #onlyovsoctober #joyandgratitude #alifeofsimpleabundance
