10 Inch Quilts

Donated to the Atlanta Quilt Festival Fundraiser

10 Inch Quilts

This weekend I made several 10 inch quilts to donate to the Atlanta Quilt Festival fundraiser. The Atlanta Quilt Festival is held each August at South Fulton Arts Center and Hammonds House Museum. The Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, hence the 10 inch quilts. They will be sold for $25, and I am sure many of them will be exquisite works of art.

I don’t usually work that small, but once I got going I enjoyed it. A good thing about making a small quilt is that you can use up leftover batting pieces and fabric scraps. I felt really frugal.

Sandwiched “Scrappy Pineapple in My Library #1”

I chose to use basting spray to sandwich the quilts because it is so easy. Although there are several brands on the market, I am partial to 505 basting spray.

Each of my 10 inch quilts has library fabric on the back. I enjoy working in a series so I thought this was a good way to unify my 10 inch quilts.

I chose to start my donation with these two quilts because I made these pineapple blocks in an Atlanta Quilt Festival workshop taught by Gyleen Fitzgerald  using her technique in From Trash to Treasure.

I never finished my pineapple quilt, but these little quilts provide a happy memory of that class.

I will have more 10 inch quilts to show you in the future. See you at the Festival! #ovsmarvelousmay
