“Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #8” is the eighth quilt in my new affirmation series. I believe that you do your best work (whatever that work is) when you look good and feel good. Each of the quilts in this series starts with a center panel of an African woman looking her best. Her dress inspires the color of each quilt.
“Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #8” measures 26 X 29 inches and is created from bright red, blue and yellow fabrics captured in the African border.
I quilted the quilt on my new Sashiko machine. It creates a stitch that mimics the look of hand quilting which I love. After quilting the quilt in a curvy pattern in red thread so that the stitches would become a design element, I framed it with a red hand sewn binding.
“Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #8” is embellished with lots of buttons, words, and a charm. I especially love the elephant buttons — always my symbol for strength and grace. The charm near my signature label reads “Life is good”.
The back of the quilt is a parade of people carrying umbrellas. The colors carry out the theme of the quilt and also symbolize succeeding in spite of adversity. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
I added a signature label on the front. “Look Good. Feel Good. Do Good #8” is unique and one-of-a-kind although it is part of a 10 quilt series.
