“Calm Compexity” grew out of a kaleidoscope class I took from Mary Clendeninn at the welcome All Quilters, my neighborhood quilting group. Although I have been quilting for 25 years now, I had never made a kaleidoscope quilt. The class was a fun and beautiful experience.
Choosing the right fabric is the key to a beautiful kaleidoscope quilt. There needs to be high contrast between the two fabrics used to make the blocks with one of the fabrics having lots of movement.
I chose a neutral palette for my quilt because I love neutrals. Color has its place, but I love neutrals.
Calm Complexity measures 65 X 64 inches. I placed 5 kaleidoscope blocks on point. I added a pieced border and a final border of the same print as the blocks.
The fabric on the back is cream and gold metallic leaf print. There is a hanging sleeve on the back and a label that documents the quilt.
I signed it on the front and added a peace charm.
