In “Be Confidently Daring” I have returned to Stephanie Brandenburg’s beautiful red flower as the newest addition to my “Be” series. I love her flowers, and I have made many quilts that incorporate them. The flower is clearly the focus of the quilt. It is surrounded by an eclectic mix of fabrics, with the blue and red African border giving the quilt a sense of strength. One border is a rail fence block in an array of reds.
“Be Confidently Daring” which measures 46 x52 inches was pieced on my Janome sewing machine. It was professionally quilted on a long arm by my friend Maxine Moore in a flower pattern. After binding the quilt and sewing the binding down by hand, I added a single embellishment. Did you notice it? A beautiful wooden button in the center of the flower.
The fabric on the back of the quilt is a yellow and red African print. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt. I signed it on the front.
This quilt is one-of-a-kind.
