The Last Rite print series in inspired by the courageous African American Muslims who buried Malcolm X in spite of death threats, fear, and betrayal within the ranks of the American Muslim community and the Black American community in general - namely Hisham Jaaber, Betty Shabazz, and Bishop Alfred Childs of the Faith Baptist Church in Harlem where his Islamic funeral was held. Their emphasis was on honoring Malcolm X by upholding the particular Islamic rites of janaza and burial.
