Exhibition: 'TAXIS DERMA', Museum of National Science & History (Lisbon, Portugal) 2019
Taken from the series 'Menagerie'; a masquerade of bird portraits in watercolour inks and collage, created with the subtle but provocative intent to evoke the relationship between society and animals. Using images of clothing as a symbolic material to cover the head and body of the bird, there is a discontinuity in the involvement between viewer and animal. The work deals with the repositioning of identity and the reassessment of the notions of 'fashion', display and allure.
Work is mounted on K-line and wood, but other framing options are advised.
