Statement
The allure between highly personal, unknowable, and disquiet resonates within my work. The process in which I make art allows me to express internal dialogs between how thoughts and the body interact and respond to the environment. These narratives are built with layers through key materials and symbolism. Layers are a play between a dreamlike beauty and a veiled relationship to my memory and emotions. I work intuitively while constructing compositions.
Strange beauty and concealed discomfort, grime, obsessive thoughts and anxiety are reoccurring themes. An internal symbolism has formed: watercolor marks representing viscera, fabric pieces exemplifying illness and beads depicting breath and air. Text on each piece shows a continuous discord of thoughts, emotions, and connections between body and object/s, which are not always apparent in how they relate.
