Nikki Trueman was born and raised in Southern California which meant a lot of time at the beach! Most memorable were the summers with her Grandparents on the beaches of Laguna where she learned to swim and appreciate the gifts of the ocean.
Nikki continued to cultivate her interest by earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Studio Art emphasis and Art History Minor from UCSD. After graduation she lived in Philadelphia for two years, but was soon drawn back to the California lifestyle. While living in Newport Beach she worked teaching art to young students at both a private arts school and private group classes as well as illustrating commissioned pet portraits. She also worked in the advertising industry for several years in Palo Alto, Los Angeles and Irvine, CA.
Creating in acrylics and mixed media, Nikki continues to be inspired by the beautiful California coastline and the colors and shapes of the environment to primarily create abstract impressionistic works full of emotion, movement and texture. She is driven by the simple intention to create a peaceful balanced flow brought forth by introspect and emotion - a process of thought, layering and letting go of expectations. She believes you should surround yourself with images that evoke emotions that awaken your heart and soothe your soul. Work that feels breathable. You should love where you live.
Nikki resides in Southern California with her 3 children and two rescue pups.
