Nicole's Story Behind The Painting:
One of my favorite artists who has been a major inspiration to me is Agnes Pelton. Agnes (1881–1961) painted from moments of stillness and art helped her formulate her ideas about spirituality and the universe.
She made most of her body of work in the desert, away from major art centers, so her work wasn’t very well known during her lifetime. When I saw her artwork at the Whitney Museum in the fall of 2020, I felt breathless and full, like I was everywhere and nowhere at once. I felt such kinship with her art and how she envisioned the way the universe operates.
What I define as the transcendent point is this place we go when we are completely in the moment so much so it seems that time cannot exist because there is only the present, like I am everywhere and nowhere because there is only this place. I am only here right where I am.
