Nicole explores depth of self and the rhythms and layers of life in her current works.
Created while dancing to infuse musicality and rhythm into her marks, Nicole layers each painting with color, texture and depth; utilizing elements of collage, printmaking and painting within her work to explore the underlying layers of self and connection with the world around us.
Her collage work is more introspective, peeling away at the layers of self while layering each piece.
This work is also an exploration in sustainability. Nicole sources many materials she works with via local sustainability sources, including her neighborhood Buy Nothing group, in order to keep possible art materials out of landfills and instead utilized to create something new. From paint and collage materials, to canvases and old pieces of furniture, Nicole utilizes many types of material as a form of play in her studies and works.
