Statement

I enjoy painting a variety of equestrian scenes from sporting horses to wild mustangs of the American west. My equine art goes beyond celebrating the beauty of horses by exploring a sense of natural authenticity and how life has a depth and fullness to it when lived with divine and wild purpose.

Each artwork delights me with the unexpected. I have an understanding of how I want a particular piece to evolve on my canvas, but the final story only presents itself once I complete the painting. These untold stories waiting in the weave of a blank canvas keep me inspired to make new art. 

I use acrylic paint because I enjoy the flexibility to create the effect I need from the paint for that stage in the painting. I have the freedom to utilize a wash and then, within moments, add layers of opaque texture while working quickly and intuitively.

I often enjoy adding bits of gold leaf to represent a spiritual light that gives all beings breath. You’ll find unexpected strokes of color in my art which are used to express how something unconventional in art, or in life, can add richness and unity. 

Creating equine art has always been home for me, and it’s how I live my wild and unconventional life.
