A Bee in Her Bonnet
This is a 14 inch standing cloth doll in a yellow, blue and shades of green fabric with a bee motif. Cotton fabric body, wool stuffing. Features created with acrylic paint, pigma pen, Prisma color pencils. Lips, eyebrows, lids, flair of nostrils hand stitched with Gutterman’s and Sulky thread. Highlight and shadow create depth. Blouse is made of a marigold vintage hanky. Cutwork and embroidered light blue flowers on a mustard felt background with flowers and bees. Vintage hanky slip under the skirt. Hair is two colors of black and pale gray fine mohair yarn with silver metallic thread highlights sewn into a sculptural styling on the side of her face. Shoes are made with cotton fabric and a felt detail. She holds wool blended felt flowers in her hand. The felt hat white flowers at the sides of the hat.
She is standing on a wooden base covered in coarse woven fabric and embroidery embellishments.
