Artist: Moonyoung Jeong (Korean, b. 1970)
The main material of my dolls is cloth. It is made by stuffing polyester fiber and cotton into a cloth and a detailed expression by needle sculpture.
I started making dolls in late 1990.
I wanted to work on creating something like an architect since childhood, but I studied medicine in college and became a pharmacist, worked as a pharmacist for years. After marrying, I left my job and let myself do something I really wanted.
I can't forget the feeling when I made the doll for the first time. It was a great birth from the humble.
The amazing impression I felt when I finished doll work with the transformation of a small, insignificant common material around me has led me to my passion for new creation.
In 2002, my book A Doll – The Story of CHOROK DOLL was published.
In 2004, I participated in Der Max-Oscar-Arnold-Kunstpreis held in Neustadt. B. Coburg in Germany and won two awards.
In 2006, I won another award, and the Spielzeug Museum in Neustadt. B. Coburg bought the piece for its collection.
In 2010, I became a NIADA artist member.
In 2012, I opened a doll studio and gallery in Suwon, Korea.
