Message
Thank you for viewing my NIADA 2024 Artworks Archive Album. I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in Canada, and I’ve been a NIADA Artist Member since 1997.
I made my first doll in 1989, and although my background contributed skills such as design, sculpting, painting and costuming, dollmaking was a new field for me, and I am largely self-taught. From the beginning, I’ve practiced the time-honoured traditions of sculpting, molding, pouring, painting and firing, to create dolls in the timeless material of porcelain. My dolls’ eyes are hand painted, and their wigs are created from mohair or lambskin. As a doll comes together and develops a personality, I create the costuming, which is often pieced and embellished and is the most rewarding step for me. All of these dolls are created, start to finish, by the artist. With the exception of “Support Your Local Doll Artist”, which has a cloth body, all of my dolls have jointed porcelain bodies, with hand painted eyes and mohair or lambskin wigs.
