The Dutch-born American sculptor is best known for his large scale abstract work. "Roadway Confluence" is a 35' tall sculpture that was located at the Sidney, Nebraska westbound rest area.
This piece was dedicated on July 4, 1976, as part of Nebraska's celebration of the U.S. Bicentennial. "Roadway Confluence" was a part of a collection known as the 500-mile Sculpture Garden, consisting of eight sculptures along I-80 across the state of Nebraska.
"Roadway Confluence" was removed and is no longer on view at the Sidney rest area.
