2020, Year of the Rat

A wooden panel painted Chinese Red with a collaged white rat, the symbol of the Lunar New Year 2020. Included in the collage are newsprint clippings from Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and Indonesian papers. The rat holds a gold leaf coin and 3 other gold leaf objects hang from a painted filligree that incorporates Chinese characters for Long Life, Happiness, Prosperity and Health. The coin has the phrase: Have a peaceful journey written on it in Chinese. Wired and ready to hang.
