While visiting my sister in Chicago, we visited the Art Institute of Chicago to see the painting "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" by George Seurat. His technique, Pointillism, was similar to what I wanted to accomplish in this new portrait. I tried to push myself beyond my own new technique to see what would happen, and I mostly stuck to a dot pattern. The background was also new since I usually don't paint them. It was inspired by the album cover of The Velvet Underground, which is one of my favorite bands. The title of the painting, A New Dawn, refers to this new chapter in my painting style.
