This oyster painting came about through a follower on Instagram. Brian Kingslet from Goose Point Oysters on the West Coast contacted me about buying some small prints for their retail store. During the process, to my surprise, one day 2 dozen oysters showed up at my doorstep. So of course I had to paint them. The first taste of these oysters was creamy and buttery but by the third one it was like eating a stick of butter. It was too much. So I went to the Facebook oyster page and asked what kind of condiment could I use to tone down these savory oysters. It was suggested that a mix of Ponzu and shiracha would help. It sure did. I was able to eat four more during the photo session. The birds eye view of this painting was intentional but not he position of the spoons in this mixture. However, while editing the photos I saw the clock and the hands and I knew I had what I needed to create this "9:05" painting.
