It was a hot summer morning when I first visited a Sunflower Farm - in Cumming GA.
The rows and rows of sunflowers, taller than me (I'm 5"2) left a lasting impression on me. And while I really wanted to paint them live, the sun was too hot. So I settled on taking reference pictures from as many angles as I could, and painted this one in the cool comfort of my studio.
I love the way this lovely flower is smiling at the sun. A gentle reminder to one of my favorite quotes - "Keep your face to the sunshine, and you cannot see the shadows" - Hellen Keller.
