About Monica Schwegman

Monica Schwegman's primary medium is mixed media, incorporating acrylics, colored pencils, pastels, and digital photography. Her art explores the theme of our world environment, focusing on climate change and the profound connection of all things, extending to the universe.

Monica draws inspiration from her experiences and time spent in nature. Her home and studio, situated in a forested area yet close to the city, have significantly shaped her perception of this interconnectedness. Her time immersed in nature provides a space for peace and contemplation, further fueling her artistic exploration of the universal links of all things.

Statement

We all view the world through our own unique lens that is shaped by our life experiences. As a photographer and painter, I am inspired to take that view and turn it into a close-up exploration that challenges our perspective in nature and of our human condition. These works are images that are pulled up close then closer, until the familiar unfolds into something unfamiliar: a journey of shapes, colors, and forms, that open a portal into another dimension of vision.
