I once wrote a poem for a similar piece, called 3500 Years, about how our trees witness and record time through their growth rings. Here it is:
Trees grow
Every year a little bit
Marked by a ring
That tells a story
Fast growth or slow growth
Happiness or sadness
Rain or drought
Sunshine of darkness
Reclaimed wood from 70 trees
Each with 50 rings
Have grown for 3500 years
With 3500 stories to tell
Look at all these stories
They are right in front of you
Coming back to life
Through your imagination
