The 9000 Years sculpture is made from 90 pieces of reclaimed redwood, laminated, carved, sanded and finished with linseed oil to bring out the natural warm colors of the aged, reclaimed wood. This particular wood is old-growth redwood and was used as a fence before I got it. Each piece shows beautiful grain with about 100 growth rings - therefore the whole sculptures represents about 9000 years of tree growth. 

This work was inspired by the beautiful fine grain of the old-growth redwood and the natural light and dark shades color shades that I used to layer and align the blocks on top of each other, with the grain rings of the years folding into one another.

This sculpture was also featured at the Museum of One at Burning Man 2025.
