Around 1924, artist Petrașcu's activity is in full ascension. He is present at the Venice Biennale with ten works of art, as well as at the Official Salon and Artistic Youth exhibitions. He travels to Italy, where he paints in Venice, Chioggia and Padua, then to France, in Vitré, as well as within Romania, in Târgoviște and Viforâta. What will result from his 1924 Venetian journey will be a series of works illustrating not only the Venetian picturesque, but also the steadiest and most poignant features of his creation. These paintings, defined by the monumental characteristics, as well as by the inclination towards a cool tones art, will place the artist amongst the most fervent painters of Venice.
