Isn't She Beautiful

Some paintings arrive with a plan. Others find their way through a conversation of colour, marks, layers, and time. This was one of those paintings.

What began as a collection of possibilities slowly gathered confidence. A mark here. A scrape there. Something added. Something removed. Moments of certainty mixed with moments of doubt. For months, the painting evolved through a series of decisions, discoveries, and unexpected turns until one day it simply became itself.

For me, this piece is a celebration of showing up fully. Taking up space. Refusing to shrink. Allowing joy, colour, and energy to exist without apology. The beauty is not in perfection. It lives in the layers, the history, the changes of direction, and the evidence that something has been lived.

Like life itself, the surface carries traces of where it has been. Some passages were protected, others were painted over, sanded back, or completely transformed. The painting became richer because of the journey, not despite it.

Joyful, messy, unapologetic—scars and all.

And sometimes, when all is said and done, you step back, smile, and think, Isn't she beautiful.
