Miriam Awad is an American-Egyptian abstract artist drawing inspiration from the Sinai.

Miriam's work explores the space between drawing and painting and surfs the edge of abstract and figurative. Her process builds on charcoal sketches and building dimension through figures. Through constant experimentation, she captures lyricism in repetition and underwater motion inspired by a love of diving.

Miriam studied figure drawing in California and developed her art practice with inks and charcoal. Cherry blossoms will often surface in her work as a proud D.C. native. Symbols also appear from worldwide travel and obsession with history.

Inspirations include music, the New York School, Magritte, Miro, surrealism, Courbet, Redon, Zao Wou-Ki, Hokusai, Alexander McQueen, Egyptian art, reptiles, and coral.

Miriam has exhibited in Washington, DC, Stockholm, and on Artsy.
