This western totem pole cactus has smooth skin and undulating, bulbous ridges running top to bottom. They provide shelter and moisture for desert life. I chose a horizontal cross-section of this sculptural cactus as a foil to its inherently vertical form. Découpaged colors and textures encourage a surreal interpretation.
