These smaller figurative pieces are part of a series of paintings entitled "Anomalies". They resulted from quicker, more immediate compositions that were often done as I worked on larger scale paintings from the "Lost Mythologies" series. Thematically, they still retain the narrative threads of a new world governed by equanimity, mystery and feminine primacy.

This is a series of  fairly small invented landscape paintings that I have been doing since I started painting in earnest back in the early 2000's.  They are idealised.  They are from experience and from imagination and are the cornerstone of everything that I do.  They are flashes of a world that periodically shows itself through the process of manipulating the materials.   I'm searching for a place that makes sense.

“Lost Mythologies” is a constantly evolving series of allegorical figurative oil paintings. The primacy of the feminine form and feminine power has always been a key element in this work. The old world is gone and with it the quest for human control, domination and subjugation. Values of interdependency with nature, the integration of the spiritual with the corporal, ritual adornment and aesthetics are all themes that continue to inform this series.  These images begin with an arresting gesture or an evocative landscape. The story is then built around these elements.
