Roll the Stone - refers to being in a dark cave. Our earth and very existence are in dire need of a "resurrection" -- a new vessel.

This painting emerged from a series of 12 paintings.

The Process:
Using the same limited acrylic color palette and an intuitive, call and response approach, I employed my typical stages of play, explore, clarify.

During play stage, I slap paint like a child, experiment, sand, collage, gouge, and coat with gloss gel between many layers.

Explore is the teenage stage in which I identify gems, develop with design/ value considerations, and assess.

In the adult stage, I finesse, edit out, accentuate what I love, add subtleties to entertain the audience. I finish with self-leveling gel, fine wool sanding, cold wax, and final buffing. They are then glued into maple float frames.
