This lidded jar sat behind the main kiln at the artist's Irving, NY, summer studio for a significant number of years (decades, by the artist's estimate). Its companions on the kiln shelf were two other lidded black and white vessels, one of which is shown in the in-situ photo included here. (Item 264: https://www.artworkarchive.com/pieces/five-faced-black-and-white-lidded-vessel)
Note the empty space in the photograph; this was the resting place for a third piece, also presently in the collection. (Item 30: https://www.artworkarchive.com/pieces/large-black-white-lidded-vessel-with-the-usual-suspects)
This jar may also be seen on the main table inside the studio as the artist prepares to load it for transport on August 3, 2021.
