This black rat is one of two 'extra' chess pieces created for the Ron Meyers chess set. The original set consists only of 32 pieces; however, upon playing with it, my family was reminded that it helps to have two extra queens for when a pawn advances. The original set's Queens are cats, but we asked Ron to make us the spare Queens as his signature rats. Potter and long-time Ron friend Nancy Green facilitated the purchase and firing, and shipped the items on Ron's behalf.
