Message
Michelle Locklear is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, but currently resides in Monmouth County New Jersey. While attending Baltimore City Community College, where she earned her Associates of Art degree in Graphic Design, she took some art classes. Her late father was a local artist in Baltimore. As a little girl she was always drawing and sketching, she didn’t really get into painting until 1999, which is when it became her passion. She is both a graphic/surface pattern designer and abstract contemporary artist. In 2014, she officially created her freelance art & design studio named Chelle’s Creations, LLC.
Statement
I design and paint to keep my creative juices flowing, to keep calm, to be at peace and to put me in my Happy Place. The medium I work most in is acrylic, but I have worked in oils. Over the last couple of years, I felt the need to be looser and freer with my paintings, so I began painting more abstract pieces, using colorful palette combinations. I have this one technique that I use on my abstract pieces, to give it another layer of character. I also like to paint the sides of my canvas to match back to the painting. I like to do this as I want my clients to have the option to either frame or unframed their purchased art. My art represents how I want the world to be “COLORFUL”. My tag saying is “The World Needs Color”!
