In the winter, when Plein Air Painting is not possible, I paint a series called "My Favorite Things."
I collect items from my past travels and family heritage and include them. In this painting, the 1984 Sports Illustrated Logo is dripping in the top left corner, the mask I carved in Ghana, my treasured Art Safari diary from my 3 months of travel in West Africa, my favorite rum Pyrat (love the bottle), my grandfather's monocular scope, my grandmother's wooden sewing box, and an N95 Mask to mark the pandemic we were in.
