MessageI'm a self taught artist. I like to paint Brutalist architecture with a bright, joyful palette.
My work combines a unexpected color gradients with powerful, concrete structures to create a series of work that I call "The Architecture of Happiness." Saturating brutal, concrete structures with rich, delicious color transcends ideas of feminine/masculine and brings viewers into a space where we question what makes a space feel safe and how do we view our own dystopian reality through this brighter lens? I’m influenced by the color theory of Josef Albers, the playfulness and minimalism of Barbara Hepworth and the quiet, gentle paintings of Giorgio Morandi.
My work investigates the levity of the human spirit in the midst of tremendous hardships.
After recently surviving breast cancer, I'm interested in the endurance and strength that it takes to walk in joy despite the heaviness of chronic illness. I love these structures because they embody fortification and they offer shelter from the storm.
