I am a contemporary abstract painter with a background in textile and graphic design. I studied Fine Art in Vancouver in the 1970’s, and travelled extensively in North America, Southeast Asia and North Africa. I then studied textile design in Paris at the prestigious fashion college, ESMOD (École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode).
During the years spent abroad, I worked as a contract and freelance print designer for many brands such as Gianfranco Ferré, Lancôme, Nitya and Hello Kitty, dividing time between France, Italy and India. I returned to Canada in the mid 1990’s and worked as a graphic designer and formed Hermani + Sorrentino Design.
In recent years, I established myself as a professional artist with a focus on painting. In a relatively short time, I have worked diligently to develop a complex visual vocabulary that reflects my many aesthetic influences. My strengths are in colour and mark making. I like to work large and work in several mediums such as oil and cold wax medium, mixed media and acrylics and monotype.
My work is represented by galleries in North America and Europe and is widely collected.
