Jen Ni says, “ There was a mural very like this across a building where I'm from a few years ago, but of a little girl - it was incredibly moving to see it in real life tbh, and this evoked very similar feelings in me. It's not unlike the feeling of looking at a very very big tree in a built up environment, if you can make any sense of that. There's something humbling in the balance between the grand scale of it and what an ordinary thing it is at the same time.
You've dealt with the windows behind your eyes particularly well, there's symbolism in that too I think, but the actual skill of showing two very different surfaces and textures occupying the same space while both of them reading correctly as what they're supposed to be - that's incredibly well done.”
