Michael Moore
Gosport, Hampshire
Michael Moore is a Hampshire-based British painter exploring memory, perception, and reflective urban spaces through layered acrylic and oil paintings.
MessageMy work explores landscape not as fixed geography, but as something continuously reconstructed through memory, attention, and time. I am interested in places that seem to carry an emotional residue within their surfaces, where architecture, weather, light, and human presence accumulate slowly into atmosphere.
A Place Remembering Itself began from direct observation of an urban edge landscape of rooftops, stairways, wires, and industrial forms seen under late evening light. During the painting process, the image became less concerned with description and more concerned with persistence: how a place continues internally after the moment of seeing has passed.
The translucent glazes and fractured spatial structure allow multiple states of perception to coexist simultaneously, as though the painting is remembering itself while it forms. Rather than presenting landscape as stable scenery, I want the work to feel provisional, layered, and quietly alive, suspended between observation and recollection.
