Michaelann earned a BA in art from Montclair State University and studied with many noted national artists. She is a signature member of Artists for Conservation, NAWA, Martin Artisans Guild, is a sitting board member of Martin Artisans Guild, and past PAPB board member (Plein Air Palm Beach.) Her work has been shown and awarded at juried shows both in galleries and museums, as well as plein air events. Her work is represented in collections worldwide. She resides on Hutchinson Island off the Treasure Coast of Florida with her husband.
Statement
Michaelann paints quiet marine environments en plein air and in the studio, focusing on Florida’s wildlife and scenery. The gently lit subjects include landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, and man-made watery places where we play or work. The subjects are beautifully interpreted in a contemporary realist approach, featuring a peaceful object or figure surrounded by complexity with soft, brushy texture and color. The tranquility surrounding her subjects often contrasts the tension between living around and enjoying water, one of Earth’s most vital natural resources, while respecting its tremendous power. Michaelann’s work also serves as a testament to her passion for supporting conservation efforts to restore and protect the health of South Florida waters, conveying our world’s crucial dependence on this essential element.
