I'm a visual artist working in two media, black/white photography and work on paper. My work explores the visual zones bordering figuration and abstraction
MessageMy background is in science and medicine, but I have always had a love of art and photography. I've taken a couple of art courses but essentially am self-taught. I spend time looking at art and learning about art, and have felt the influences of major artists like Aaron Siskind, Minor White, Richard Serra. Mark Rothko and Pierre Soulages. I have shown my work in Boston and New York and my work is in several private collections. The work of artistic expression is a kind of experimentation, seeking particular solutions or "answers" to how aesthetic challenges are re-invented or re-defined. For me the creative process is one of repeated re-imagining and searching to give voice to feelings or ideas not previously encountered . I hope to expand my viewing audience by sharing my creations and in the process, together discovering new ways to define and appreciate beauty.
