Painting Chosen for Cape Cod Museum of Art National Juried Exhibit

INSIGHT, Cape Cod Museum of Art national juried exhibition, March 18-June 20, 2021.

An oil painting by Belleville, IL artist Michael Anderson has been selected for inclusion in INSIGHT, a Cape Cod Museum of Art national juried exhibition, March 18-June 20, 2021.

Only 65 artworks were selected for the exhibition from 523 submissions by 272 artists from 30 states by juror Grace Hopkins, Gallery Director, Berta Walker Galleries. Hopkins notes that “As a gallery director I am regularly confronted with an aesthetic puzzle. But when you throw in the added thematic complexity of INSIGHT and the sheer number of works submitted, making a final selection was both a demanding and rewarding exercise in distillation.”

Michael Anderson’s artwork, “That Which Colors The Mind”, is painted in saturated colors and depicts a lone figure emerging from darkness through a doorway into a brightly colored, light filled environment. Anderson describes the image as symbolic of his own recent artistic journey in which the use of new colors has led to personal revaluation and insight.

Michael will participate in the recording of the Virtual Zoom Video Reception to be released publicly on April 2 and April 9. The INSIGHT exhibition is open to the public during regular museum hours.
