Elegant Metaphors: Paintings by Michael Anderson at Gretchen Brigham Gallery
St. Louis, MO – June 29, 2024 – Michael Anderson Studio is pleased to announce the upcoming art exhibit "Elegant Metaphors: Paintings by Michael Anderson." The show will run from August 3, 2024, through September 27, 2024, showcasing 30 recent works by the artist at the Gretchen Brigham Gallery.
Located within the Union Avenue Christian Church at 733 N. Union Blvd, which also serves as the home of the Union Avenue Opera Company, the gallery is a vibrant hub for the arts in St. Louis.
An Artists Reception, free and open to the public, will be held on Saturday, August 31, from 3-5pm. This event offers an opportunity to meet Michael Anderson and gain insight into his creative process.
Michael Anderson's paintings depict a variety of subject matter with simple shapes and vibrant colors in a style that samples both representation and abstraction. His work invites viewers to contemplate a fresh perspective on the familiar and the everyday. Anderson shares, "It is the ability to awaken a forgotten memory, to discover a new way of seeing the familiar or the power to evoke emotion, especially happiness and awe, that I am certain is the triumph of painting."
