This plein air painting was created on location at the Watershed Nature Center in Edwardsville, IL. The lake, now home to all sorts of wildlife, was a former storm water detention basin but now features an elevated walkway around its perimeter. On this day the lake was mostly covered in a yellow green blanket of duckweed. This is one of my favorite paintings for what it says about the beauty of reuse, recycling and reclamation.
