The Climatron, the first geodesic conservatory design based on the principles of Buckminster Fuller, opened to the public in 1960. The plantings and atmosphere within the building replicate a tropical rain forest. Sculptures and floating Chihuly glass "onions" installed in reflecting pools enhance a long viewing axis in the Missouri Botanical Garden.
