Mia Turi
Light in the Canopy by Mia Turi Image: This painting was done over an existing, unfinished acrylic painting titled "Before Breakfast" that I did many years ago and was never satisfied with. The old painting was sanded down to remove much of the impasto texture and then primed with acrylic gesso. Some of the old impasto texture remains and is evident under the new painting.

When I moved back to Ohio after 25 years in Nevada, I spent a lot of time hiking, rediscovering the joys of distinctly changing seasons. The intense glow of backlit leaves always takes my breath away and imparts the wonders of nature.
