Mia Turi is an Ohio-born painter working in oils who recently relocated back to her home state after living in Nevada for over 25 years.
Mia has expressed herself through the creation of art in various forms since a very young age and continually pursues self-study opportunities. In recent years, she has attended workshops with well-known Western plein air artists. Living in the southwest taught her to appreciate the stunning contrast of light and dark in vast, harsh landscapes. She incorporates those impressions by painting striking light in relatable, everyday objects and scenes so the viewer experiences their depth in a calming, yet thought-provoking way.
In the past decade as a part-time artist, her works have sold to collectors around the globe. Mia left the corporate life in 2021 to pursue art full time and is currently a member of the Ohio Plein Air Society. Her works have been accepted in nationally recognized exhibitions.
Statement
Using dramatic contrast between light and shadow, my goal is to give a somewhat 3D effect to my 2D works inviting the viewer into the scene. I often choose simpler compositions so that the viewer gains insight to the often-overlooked simplicity in the world around them every day.
