Flag written in Japanese and Korean.
This is a very unique and unusual flag. Measures 110"x45".
The Chosun Hotel was built in 1914 during the Japanese occupation under the auspice of Japanese colonial government and was a luxurious hotel hosting governmental officers or diplomats (you can read a little bit about it and see a photo of the original hotel at https://brunch.co.kr/@hottel/23)
According to another source that is written in Korean, the hotel was built on the ground where a building had existed, which was used by Korean kings to hold religious ceremonies. That means, building the hotel on the location was one of the Japanese colonial government's attempts to destroy Korean traditional culture. Since the 1970s, the name changed to "Western Chosun Hotel" when the American Airlines bought a half of its ownership. Today, I am not sure if the American Airlines still has some part of the ownership.
