"The Portrait of Kathy was painted while I was working on a large series of what I called The Black Heads - meaning heads on a flat black ground. They were all painted from life. Kathy Gscheidle, a student at Messiah at the time, was a part of a group of art students with whom we were particularly close - a terrific model. That t-shirt, by the way, was imprinted with the name of a rock group that had "1000" in its name. I exhibited the entire series of portraits in the Aughinbaugh Gallery at Messiah in 1994." - Catherine Prescott
Catherine Prescott taught painting and drawing at Messiah

of 51 finalists chosen from over 4,000 entries for the Outwin Boochever 2006 Portrait Competition at the National
Portrait Gallery, Washington D.C. and has been honored to
be selected again in 2012 for that competition.
