The painting of Ted [C Prescott’s husband] at his desk
was partially painted from life and partially from a photo.
The space was a room with just bookshelves, his desk and
a phone but we called it “the library”.  Ted spent long hours
at his desk —just like that— studying so much [early in
his tenure, as he shaped the program and lesson plans of
the newly created arts program] in those first years at Messiah!

A Dutch friend was visiting us once, saw the painting and
said, "Ah, I see Mr. Prescott's pants are on fire.” –C Prescott

Catherine Prescott taught painting and drawing at Messiah
College for 20 years. In 2012 she was awarded Honorable
Mention I in the Portrait Society of America members-only competition and in 2010 won the Salmagundi Club Award,
The National Arts Club, NY. Most impressively, she was one
of 51 finalists chosen from over 4,000 entries for the Outwin Boochever 2006 Portrait Competition at the National
Portrait Gallery, Washington D.C. and has been honored to
be selected again in 2012 for that competition.
