Statement

Melissa Flattery (b. Colorado 1969) is a mixed-media, multi-disciplinary artist currently living and working in the mountains of western North Carolina. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Geography and Webster University with an MA in Leadership and Management. Art has always been a part of her life even while serving for more than twenty years in the United States Air Force. Now a full-time artist, she finds her own artistic voice daily by drawing from her immersion in cultural experiences, world travel, and the beauty that surrounds her in the mountains and waterways of Appalachia.

Creating vibrant, captivating art is Melissa’s love language and passion. With a current focus on contemporary abstract, Melissa utilizes resin, metal leaf, and diverse embellishments to both intrigue and capture the viewer’s imagination.
